Nicknames are titles gained from various accomplishments, ranging from certain XP awards to learning particular skills.
To set your nickname, simply type 'nickname' and you will see a list of all the nicknames currently available to you, and ask if you would like to change your current one. Typing 'yes' will prompt you to select the list number of the nickname you want.
Once you've set your nickname it will appear in your description as 'Currently known to operate under the alias of '[nickname].'
